Dental Hygiene and Regular Check-ups
Today’s economic state has caused many individuals to forego seeing their dentist on a regular basis. As people are putting their dental needs on the backburner, they are opting to visit only when they experience severe pain. However, this can oftentimes end up being more costly than maintaining regular check-ups. When the problem has caused excess damage, there are more steps that must be taken in order to regain their dental health. Although regular brushing and flossing can help stave off dental issues, it is still important to keep routine appointments.
Dr. Rubin and I strongly recommend visiting the dentist on a regular basis in order to prevent gum problems and tooth decay. This allows us to catch small issues before they become bigger, bothersome problems. Patients who come in with pain may require extensive treatment; depending on the severity of their gum disease, different levels of cleaning will be recommended. A tell-tale sign of a gum disorder is bleeding when brushing or flossing, which must be further evaluated in order to determine the most appropriate treatment. If the gum disease is too advanced, the tooth may no longer be saved, more invasive procedures may be necessary.
